How to Throw Your Ideal Office End of the Year Party
The holidays are upon us and that means it's time to start thinking about all the fun festivities you can have with your co-workers.
The office party can be a great way to celebrate the end of the year and bring together office staff. But due to the new restrictions, you might not be able to celebrate it at the office, so why not set it up as a virtual event? This will allow all of your employees to join in, no matter where they are.
Before you plan your office party, you need to make sure that it is done in a way that will please everyone involved. There are many ways to do it, but we have compiled some of our favourite ideas for throwing your ideal office end of the year party, even online!
1. Provide festive food
One of the best things about office parties is the food. It's a great way to show your co-workers that you appreciate them and want them to have a good time. Be sure to provide festive foods and drinks that will get everyone in the festive spirit.
Choose your office's favourite holiday party foods and make sure to deliver them!
Some of our favourite ideas include:
· Custom, branded cookies
· Pecan pie
· Eggnog
· Hot apple cider
· even hot chocolate!
· festive grazing platters
Don't forget about more traditional office party food like wine, cheese platters and fruit baskets either!
2. Play some festive music
In-person or not, music is a great way to set the tone for any party and office parties are no exception. Be sure to play some festive music that will get everyone in the mood to celebrate.
You can find holiday-themed songs on Spotify or Apple Music, or you could even create a custom playlist specifically for your office party. Remember: everyone has different tastes and interests, so try not to limit yourself or others too much when it comes to musical choices at work parties because they may enjoy things outside their comfort zones. A few days before the party takes place, create an open playlist, and ask everyone to add in their favourite party songs!
3. Set up games for fun
Another great way to keep everyone entertained is by setting up games for them to play. This can be anything from trivia contests to party games like charades or bingo. Not only will this keep people busy, but it will also help break the ice and get everyone talking with each other.
For parties in person we suggest:
Play Pass The Parcel!
Get the party started with a round of pass the parcel. Whether you’re sober or drunk, this simple game can lead to a range of surprises depending on what gifts you might be hiding inside the parcel.
Set Up An Escape Room Experience
If you’ve got a hefty Christmas party budget, why not set the tone by organising an escape room experience for your teams? It helps build camaraderie and will give your staff a wonderful time and memories.
Get Sneaky With A Scavenger Hunt
Excite your staff and colleagues by setting up a scavenger hunt where they can explore your office and find hidden treasures to fill their Christmas stockings.
For an online event:
Skribble
Have fun drawing and guessing words with your team!
Try not to laugh
Laugh it off with Try not to laugh! This hilarious game is perfect for any party. With a variety of challenges and video clips, you and your friends will be laughing all night long. So bring on the jokes–the only thing you have to worry about is who can keep a straight face!
Spaceteam
Spaceteam is the perfect game for any office environment! With its frantic and hilarious gameplay, you’ll be able to take a break from your work and have some laughs with your colleagues. Whether you’re trying to achieve the game’s goals or just trying not to blow up the ship, Spaceteam is sure to keep you entertained.
4. Decorate the office with lots of festive decorations
Adding more festive pieces can help brighten up people's spirits even before they arrive at your corporate event - it will help get everyone in the mood and set the tone for a fun-filled office party!
If you want to add an extra layer of excitement to your office party, consider incorporating some fun themes into the decorating scheme. This could be anything from a minimal setting, complete with glitter balls lights, to a winter, glittery wonderland or 70s themed party!
You can find office party decorations for any theme at your local dollar store. For example, office party supplies like balloons and streamers are perfect for creating that classic disco feeling. You could also consider adding things like garlands, banners and baubles into the mix too - experiment with different decorating ideas until you see what works best for your office!
For a virtual event, have fun by creating custom backgrounds or give your team some festive gifs like funny glasses and photo booth decorations. These will help to get everyone in the mood for an awesome experience!
5. Gather everyone around for a group photo at the end of the night
One of the best parts about celebrating with your company is getting to celebrate in style. So make sure you take some time after the party for an epic group photo! Even if there are only six or seven people in total that attended - it can still be fun because everyone will get into it by this point and have their spirits on high. Do something different too--maybe print copies as holiday cards?
Include cute stickers inside that say "happy holidays from [company name]"? This is not just limited to handing these photos straight over at the end either- add them onto office notes while they're back working through emails before throwing away any old papers/notes etc. that are taking up extra space.
This provides an opportunity for creativity and teamwork, which everyone including yourself should feel comfortable in whatever environment he or she's working in so as bring about more positivity throughout this festive season towards each other!
We hope that these tips will help you throw an office party that everyone will love!
